MAY 2008 : Anatomy


1. In case of Coarctation of Aorta which of the following is not involved ?

a. Vertebral A.
b. Posterior Intercostal A.
c. Axillary A.
d. Subscapular A.


Ans : A ( Vertebral Artery )

Coarctation is due to an abnormality in development of the embryologic left fourth and sixth aortic arches.

* Coarctation of the aorta is a narrowing of the aorta most commonly found just distal to the origin of the left subclavian artery. Most patients with coarctation have juxtaductal coarctation. Older terms, such as preductal (infantile-type) or postductal (adult-type), are often misleading.

* Coarctation of the aorta occurs in 35% of patients with Turner syndrome.


2. Unilateral Injury to hypoglossal nerve to all except..

a. Hemiatrophy of involved palate.
b. Deviation of tongue towards the same side.
c. Loss of taste sensation in one half of the tongue.
d. Fasciculation of the tongue
